Universal Credit: Minimum income floor policy suspended until 30 April 2021

One of the measures brought in because of the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak was to suspend the minimum income floor policy for universal credit claimants who are in gainful self-employment.

Initially rules which suspended the minimum income floor were due to expire from November 2020 but new legislation has been published confirming that the minimum income floor policy will continue to be suspended under 30 April 2021.

This means UC claimants who are in gainful self-employment will continue to have their awards calculated on their actual income rather than have the minimum income floor applied.
