HMRC - new services coming in 2017
HMRC have confirmed two new services coming in early 2017 for tax credit and child benefit claimants.
HMRC say the services will vastly improve the experience of claimants reporting a change of circumstances for tax credits or making a new claim to Child Benefit. The services are:
- A service for tax credits claimants to convert single claims into joint claims over the telephone instead of by post. Claimants who move from joint to single claims can already make use of a faster telephone based service for their new claim.
- A service for claimants to make a new claim to Child Benefit online, using their Personal Tax Account. One of the benefits of the new service is that customers will not need to send their child’s birth certificate to HMRC, as we will be able to automatically check details with the relevant birth registration offices.
We will add further details to the main website text once we have them.
