Universal Credit Rollout

From 12 December 2018, Universal Credit is available everywhere in Great Britain.

This means that for most people, new claims for the legacy benefits that UC replaces will no longer be accepted, although the exceptions remain for the time being for those with more than 2 children and claimants who have reached their state pension age; and in certain cases claims for Housing Benefit are still permitted. The Government previously announced those in receipt of the severe disability premium of certain benefits would remain in the legacy benefit system until such time as transitional protection is in place. More information is available on the GOV.UK website.

Information about claims for new style Employment and Support Allowance is available on the GOV.UK website

Universal Credit rollout in Northern Ireland was completed on 5 December 2018
